Suggested Walk #1 - Half a Mile to Little John's Grave.

Steps out of the Scotsmans Car ParkTake the steps from the North end of the car park across the road to Church Bank - look out for passing cars from the right.
Church bankYou will pass an old path on the right called Hungry Lane where the poor would assemble to ask for charity from the congregation.

St. Michaels from the EastFollow the steep road for 150 yards as it bends left, then turn left into the St Michaels church yard.

Follow the path towards the entrance to the entrance to the church, then take the sign to turn left.

The impressively large grave is a short walk away. It has been tended by the Shirwood Foresters for many years.

While you in this area of the village why not take a stroll down to the end of the church yard (turn left when facing the church doors and keep going) and then down Shuttleworth Walk. On the left is a beautiful walled garden, see if you can find a hole in the wall for a peek. The ruined building in the distance is an old lodge where hunting dogs were kept. At the bottom of the path is the cricket pitch where Hathersage Cricket Club play regular matches in the summer. At this point you could retrace your steps or take a left turn back to the high street, another left turn until you come to school lane and then 200 yards back to the Scotsmans.
