The
Scotsmans Pack is always a colourful attractive scene in summer and winter.
The
stream to the South, next to the patio has wild brown trout some of which have
grown as a result of the tit-bits offered by our guests! If you are lucky you
may also see a crayfish which also inhabit the stream however they are quite shy
and prefer to hide under stones.
The
patio is a popular place to sit and enjoy a moments peace listening to the babbling
brook and the tranquil sound of the contented sheep in the fields beyond.
In
the evening you can watch the sun setting over Bretton Moor which are the hills
in the distance on this evening photograph.
The
buildings that surround the Scotsmans Pack and in the rest of the area are built
from millstone grit, the traditional building material up until the present day.
You will find that all the field boundary walls are also constructed from grit
stone. The stone has a abrasive edge hence its use as millstone material and also
explains why climbing in the area is such a popular pursuit.
The
local primary school, St Michaels, is next to the Scotsmans Pack, you can see
the open lush playing field that they enjoy, in this photograph.![]()
