History

Prior to the 18th Century there were few roads in Derbyshire. The Scotsman's Pack stands on one of the old tracks leading to Sheffield and the Sheffield Manor Castle. It was a regular calling place for food and shelter for the 'Packman' who visited every farm and village in the area offering their goods and carrying news - packmen from Scotland sold their tweeds here to the local farmers.

One of the Scotsmans regulars in Tom Green will tell you how times have changed since he was a lad over 75 years ago. Tom's wedding meal was held in the Scotsmans in 1934, the receipt is framed on the wall as you enter on the left - 12 meat teas were £4 10 shillings then!

The photograph on the right is of a previous landlord of the Scotsmans - Albert Sunderland. Mr. Sunderland's daughter Dorothy was born at the Scotsmans and still works behind the bar.
